Alternate License Plate Traffic Restrictions on the Amalfi Coast (2026)

The alternate license plate traffic system is in effect on the Amalfi Coast (SS163 Amalfitana), between Vietri sul Mare and Positano.

From August 1 to September 30, 2026, the restrictions apply every day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

How it works:

• On even-numbered days (e.g. August 4, 6, 8), vehicles with a license plate ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) are not allowed to drive.
• On odd-numbered days (e.g. August 5, 7, 9), vehicles with a license plate ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) are not allowed to drive.

Important exemptions:
Guests staying at accommodation facilities on the Amalfi Coast are generally exempt from these restrictions on their check-in and check-out days, provided they have a valid reservation confirmation.

Motorcycles and scooters are not subject to the alternate license plate restrictions and may circulate freely.
